Prescription Drug AddictionsProducts Relating to 'Prescription Drug Addictions'

Prescription drug addictions are becoming increasingly more common around the world. There are many drugs, which can be obtained legally and medical practitioners prescribe them legitimately, which can be abused or misused. Usually people take medications as per the prescription of Doctors and use them seriously, but non-medical use of prescribed drugs leads to Prescription drug addictions, which is a serious public health concern. There are three classes of prescription drugs, which are very commonly used and abused which lead to Prescription drug addictions. These are as follows:

1. Opioid: This drug is mostly prescribed for the treatment of pain. They can block the transmission of pain messages to the brain. Additionally they can also produce drowsiness, constipation. They can also cause euphoria by affecting the brain and which leads to pleasure. Chronic use of opioids result in tolerance for drugs, which means that users must take higher doses to achieve the same initial effects. Long-term use can lead to Prescription drug addictions. In such condition if the drug use is reduced or stopped a withdrawal symptom occurs which include restlessness, muscle and bone pain, insomnia, diarrhea, vomiting, cold flashes with goose bumps and involuntary leg movements. If opioid Prescription drug addictions are not controlled at this stage, then severe respiratory depression can lead to even death. However, if the opioids are taken as prescribed, it can cure pain effectively.

2. CNS depressants: This drug is used for treating anxiety and sleep disorder. It slows down the normal brain function. After prolonged use of this drug body becomes accustomed to the effect of drug and in order to get initial effect larger doses will be needed which leads to Prescription drug addictions. In this case also if the drug is stopped or reduced withdrawal symptom occurs. Although stopping benzodiazepines could be problematic but it is not life threatening but discontinuing of other CNS can have life threatening complications. Therefore if anyone is suffering from CNS Prescription drug addictions they must speak to physician or seek medical treatment.

3. Stimulants: This drug is prescribed to treat narcolepsy, obesity and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (APHD). Stimulants are a class of drugs that enhance brain activity. They cause an increase in alertness, attention, and energy, which is accompanied by elevated blood pressure and increased heart rate and respiration. The consequence of stimulant Prescription drug addictions can be dangerous. Although it may not lead to withdrawal symptom but by taking high doses can lead to feelings of hostility or paranoia. Also high body temperature and irregular heartbeat may occur. There is also the potential for cardiovascular failure or lethal seizures
