HOW TO CHANGE YOUR SELF IMAGE

Most people think that once you grow up, that you cannot change you self image. Well i am here to tell you that you can through the following steps.

  1. Silencing the critic within. Everybody has some level of self confidence or they would not get out of bed in the morning to go about their daily activites. Some people are only confident in some situations, i.e when they are among friends and family. but when they are amongst strangers they become withdrawn. Their self image suffers from situational self confidence. Now when these people are amongst stangers the critic within has a dialogue with them and says something like this ' joe, this stanger might be accessing you. Don't say anything stupid he might think you are stupid'. when the critic within says that to you, and you believe it, your self image shrinks to the size of a small potato. If on the other hand you dont listen to the critic within and tell it to shut up you will be as confident and at ease as if you were amongst friends and family.
  2. Goal setting and Goal Achievement. We all know that goals are important. So why don't we set them? Goal setting and goal achievement is the most important thing you can do for enhancing your self image. Why, because when you set a goal and eventually achieve it, it gives you a sense of achievement, pride and satisfaction. this in turn will boost your confidence levels and a confident persons' self image will be the size of a football and not the size of a small potato.
  3. Visualisation. This techique helps to booster the self image greatly. When you visualise your self as a successful person with all your goals and desires achieved your self image grows. And you then start to behave and think like a sucessful person and in time you achieve all that you visualised. This is why people who maintain a vivid picture of who and where they want to go in life usually achieve great things.
  4. Built- in Servo-mechanisms. We all have built- in servo mechanisms that guide us to our targets(goals).Take for instance a torpedo that is launched from a submarine that is say 10 miles from it's target. The torpedo will start its journey in a straight line but along the way it will zig zag off course for a while but it will still correct course and eventually hit its target. Life is exactly the same. when we set a goal we will initially make mistakes(zig zag) but if we keep focus(target) we will achieve our goal. So in order to change our self image we have to believe in our abilities (servo mechanisms) and make all the mistakes(zig zag) and then hit target(achieve our goals). when we apply this regularly we will change our self image for the better.
